Bissell has recalled multiple models of its Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners after the company received 183 reports of hot water or steam escaping from the product, including 157 reports of minor burn injuries.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall Thursday warning that the steam cleaners "can expel hot water or steam onto users while heating or during use, posing a burn hazard."
About 3.2 million items have been sold in the United States and about 355,000 in Canada.

Which models of the Bissell steam cleaner have been recalled?
Model series 39N7 and 2994 of the Bissell Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaners have been recalled, with “Steam Shot” or “Power Steamer” printed on the side of the product.
Bissell says the model numbers are printed on the product rating label located on the bottom of the unit. The product comes in a variety of colors including green, pink, blue, orange, white, black, purple and red.
The product, manufactured in China, was sold at Target, Walmart, and other department and home goods stores nationwide, and online at www.bissell.com, Amazon and HSN and other websites between August 2008 through May 2024, according to USCP, for $35 to $40, or $70 for a two-pack.
